Exposing the Darkness Versus Exhibiting its Power

Fear Sabotaging Faith

I’ve noticed a spirit of fear currently being released into the minds of many believers. It comes under the guise of exposing darkness, when in fact it is paving the way for it. Let me explain. It happens when someone exposes some aspect of the enemy (not a bad thing, right we’re supposed to expose the darkness, see Ephesians 5:11, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them”) But the next thing that comes out of their mouth is a warning to the effect of; “it’s dangerous, it can harm you, watch out or it will do this or that…” This is the spirit of fear being released through them, and they may not even realize it. The next thing you know, you’re looking over your shoulder, emptying flowerpots, digging up your garden, checking your porch, or basically looking for some trinket that some person with evil intent may have placed in your possession to put a spell on you. This form of Wiccaphobia allows fear’s fiery arrow to breach your defenses, causing your faith to falter and providing the spell the opportunity to pierce your armor. Don’t give the enemy a foothold.

Expose and Do Not Exalt the Enemy

It’s okay when someone exposes the enemy, but the moment they instill fear and give power to the enemy, turn it off. Resist and be vigilant about what you allow your mind to listen to and receive. Stand firm on who God is and who “you” are in Him. In Isaiah 46:9-10, God declares, “I am God, and there is no other... My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,” calling His people to recall these former things and stand firm.”

Whom Shall I Fear?

The other day I walked down my street and I saw a little voodoo doll in the roadway. I surmise someone had thrown it in the garbage and it fell out when the garbage man emptied the can because it was just lying there. Was I alarmed? Absolutely not! I’m certainly not ignorant of the enemy’s power, BUT my God is greater than any other, and I walk in the authority of His power. Whom or what shall I fear? If someone were to put something on my doorstep, I’d rebuke it in the name of Jesus and get rid of it. Remember who our God is! Luke 10:19 states: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”

The Exceeding Greatness of His Power

Witches have been casting spells for thousands of years. It’s gotten much worse. With people who identify as TikTok witches, Etsy witches, and what have you, it seems some have nothing better to do than cast spells on people all day. It’s no longer a personal ought; they may not even know the person they’re casting a spell on. It never used to be that way, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re working with the same powers of darkness; however, we’re standing in the power of God’s might. As the days grow darker, so will the schemes of the enemy. But it doesn’t matter, because “what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” Always remember that His authority is over all spiritual and earthly realms.

Rebuking Spirits Without Attacking the Person

One last word… if you come across someone who has come out of witchcraft and in their ignorance, they give the enemy undo power or you discern a spirit working through them…. Rebuke the spirit, but don’t attack the person. God performs a wonderful act when He frees people from witchcraft. Although the spirits linked to witchcraft usually depart quickly, individuals then need time to unlearn ingrained behaviors from their lives. As long as they are in the Word and getting closer to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will shine a light on any remaining corners or hidden places the enemy still has access to in due time. Extend grace and pray for them. Pray they will receive discernment in disclosing darkness so they will not cause one to fall. Ask the Lord to teach them what to say, how to say it, and when not to say it. They need the acceptance, support, and prayers of the Body of Christ. Don’t fear them… embrace them and place your complete trust in God to deliver them. He is more than able. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20.
